MASTER CRAFTED TO
YOUR UNIQUE NEEDS
THE BEST OF THE BEST
Custom at DVO means built for you. The best suspension can now be custom tailored to your unique needs and the bike you ride.
hand tuned performance
NOTHING COMPARES
Hand built means hand built. A Custom Shop fork or shock is completely disassembled and rebuilt by our master technicians. A custom shim stack tuned around you, a hand bleed and high performance race oil all go into a custom shop tune. It’s the same way we build forks and shocks for our top athletes.
MASTER TUNER
RONNIE DILAN
Ronnie Dilan got his start tuning and servicing at Marzocchi in 1998. He was the top Tuner/Tech there for all the premiere athletes. In 2012 he joined DVO Suspension and quickly felt at home with the highly tunable product. With an incredible 20+ years of suspension tuning, Ronnie now tunes for all the top level athletes, OEM custom tuning, and our production “in the box tunes”. Ronnie is the definition of Master Tuner.
MASTER TECH
ROB NEVINS
A long time MTB enthusiast, Rob got his start at DVO Suspension in 2016 as general service tech. He quickly picked up the subtle nuances of suspension building and now is one of the industries finest suspension techs. A badass carpenter, welder, and creator, now a premier level suspension tech.
WHY A CUSTOM TUNED
REAR SHOCK?
Rear shocks are the trickiest to tune. Why’s that? Leverage Ratio and your personal taste/rider weight. Every bike has a unique kinematic and leverage ratio. The leverage ratio is the ratio between the distance the rear wheel moves vs. the distance the shock moves as the suspension cycles. This has a drastic effect on the level of damping a shock needs. Once the the leverage rate of your bike is determined, that’s the foundation of the tune. From there we get your rider weight, ride style, terrain, and your personal preferences to determine what your personal tune would be. The shock can now be tuned for your bike, and you.
HIGH LEVERAGE RATIO
LOW LEVERAGE RATIO
This means the linkage design is compressing the shock easier, therefore the shock has to resist more. With this type of design, a higher spring rate, firmer compression, and a slower rebound is needed.
This means the linkage design is compressing the shock with less leverage, therefore the shock has to resist less. With this type of design, a lower spring rate, softer compression, and a faster rebound is needed.
WHY A CUSTOM TUNED
FORK?
Unlike rear shocks that have to be tuned for your bike and you, a fork can be tuned to your exact preferences and rider weight, then set up with clickers to be balanced with your rear shock. When a fork is custom tuned, we modify the Rebound and Compression to fit the range of your body weight. That means you have full range of adjustment no matter your weight. From there we can tune in your personal taste, ride style and terrain.
